Six final year PR students beat off competition from more than 100 others to win the annual competitive pitch prize awarded by PR consultancy Trimedia. Four shortlisted teams from the PR course at Leeds Metropolitan University presented creative PR proposals against a challenging brief to encourage students to register for organ donation.

“The PR industry needs more qualified practitioners who can survive in a commercial environment, and this competition helps prepare the students in some important ways for the workplace,” said Justin McKeown, divisional director at Trimedia (himself a PR graduate). He added: “Amid tough competition, Inno PR’s ‘Lifesavers’ campaign stood out for its simple concept, good story ideas and realistic understanding of logistics and execution.”.

The prize-winners – Chris Bennett, Charlotte Brophy, Ben Cotton, Mandy Cunliffe, Matt Peden and David Turnbull – share the £1,000 prize money.
