Six students, three of them studying PR, developed a business idea from concept to a fully formed business model. While being innovative, the team was encouraged to “think global, act local”.

After devising their urban farming idea – utilizing barren roof-tops on urban buildings like factories and hospitals to farm fruit and vegetables – they submitted a proposal online. Beating 190 other universities from around the country, the Marjon team made it through to the national final in London.

After two gruelling days, where the team faced regular examination by the judging panel and numerous over-lapping deadlines, they came out top in a head-to-head pitch with other universities.
