Leeds Met becomes Leeds Beckett

Today, Leeds Metropolitan University officially became Leeds Beckett University. This reflects the former name of the house and landscape park – Beckett Park – on which the university’s Headingley campus is built.

Anne Gregory leaves Leeds

A well-known professor of public relations is leaving the university she’s been associated with for over 20 years. Professor Anne Gregory is leaving Leeds Metropolitan for University of Huddersfield, where she will be Professor of Corporate Communication at the business school from next week.

Students impress professionals

A team of final year public relations students has won an award from PR consultancy Grayling for its work on a client brief. All final year public relations students at Leeds Met were challenged to devise and deliver a creative pitch for a national train operator. The winning team was Caboose Communications formed by Charlotte Pittock-Holdsworth, Sean Ball, Lisa Kearney, Becky Mason, Nillie Munir and Tom Fawcett.

A PR graduate is taking time out to walk to the world cup. Former Behind the Spin news editor Adam Burns and friends Dave Bewick and Pete Johnston are approaching the half-way point of an 80-day, 1966km walk across South America to raise funds for charity.
