This sits alongside its existing Work Placement Charter.
Created by Carol Arthur MCIPR and Sally Keith FCIPR, the toolkit has been approved by the CIPR Diversity Working Group.
The toolkit reminds employers that national minimum wage legislation applies to internships and work placements, except for two exemptions:
- For students who are studying on higher education courses at UK universities or colleges if placed with an employer as part of their course. This exemption may be applied for a maximum period of one year.
- Students doing voluntary work for a registered charity and those doing workshadowing.
