Consumer Communications Assistant – Domino’s Pizza

We learn of a vacancy for a Consumer Communication Assistant reporting to the Brand & Digital Communications Manager at Domino’s Pizza in Milton Keynes.

The purpose of the role is to promote and protect the Domino’s consumer brand, providing support for the Brand and Digital Communications Manager.

In addition, the role involves working alongside others to support the wider communications team on admin and planning tasks.

Key accountabilities and responsibilities

Press office

  • Ensure the delivery of a successful consumer communications calendar in line with approved plans
  • Help the team and consumer communications agencies to monitor the news agenda and identify any hijack opportunities as they arise
  • Work with others to respond to all general incoming press enquiries, and draft statements and press releases where required
  • Participate in the on-call duty press office one 7-day week in every five, managing out of hours issues and enquiries as needed
  • Support in the delivery of successful launches, A List Store Launches and Store Milestones in line with approved plans
  • Work with others in the delivery of campaigns across three official charity partners: Teenage Cancer Trust (England, Scotland and Wales), Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice (NI) and Barretstown (ROI) to amplify partnerships to local press, stakeholders and communities and the national media with the objective of hitting a £2m fundraising target

External crisis/issues

  • Manage the handling of store, community or charity issues and crises in timely and responsible manner, liaising with relevant teams/colleagues/franchisees to provide approved statements to press
  • Provide support and advice to franchisees as and when required

Corporate website

  • Work with others to provide consumer campaign press releases and assets for upload to the Corporate Website for upload on the day of launch

Corporate Twitter

  • Draft tweets in support of consumer campaigns on launch day and monitor coverage throughout the duration of the campaign that may be suitable to engage with on this channel

Internal communications

  • Draft Domino’s in the News campaign wraps upon completion of each campaign for distribution and publication

Budget management

  • Assist with raising purchase orders relating to Consumer Communications activity, taking responsibility for investigating and resolving any discrepancies with invoicing

Person specification

Essential

  • Degree educated (or with equivalent experience)
  • A minimum of 6 months communications experience either agency side or in-house, ideally in an FMCG or retail / food environment
  • Social media savvy with strong understanding of influencer environment
  • Regional and national media contacts
  • Communication best practice across varied geographies and audiences
  • Strong influencing skills
  • Excellent communications skills: Written & verbal, including negotiation skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills – persuasive / confident
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines
  • Organised and, remaining calm and objective when under pressure
  • Networking and relationship management

Desirable

  • Degree or other qualification in communication, journalism or public relations

Salary and contract

Up to £20,000-£21,000 per year (six months fixed term contract)
