I love the course, it is very active and full on, but so is PR if you really want to go into it as a career, I really feel like they try to prepare us for graduate life. If I could go back in time yes I would still Choose PR but not with Marketing.

Overall: 4.5 – Leeds Met has a great atmosphere and diverse body of students.

Teaching/Lecturers:  4 – Most teaching staff are very helpful and convey a real passion and expertise for their specialism

Support available: CIPR mentoring scheme (with working practitioners), I heard about my current short-term placement in a lecture.

Extra Opportunities available: regular guest lectures and networking opportunities, I heard about my current short-term placement in a lecture early enough to be the first applicant.

Accommodation: 2 – Woodhouse Flats are very basic to say the least, although I’ve met some really great friends.

Facilities (including library): Rose Bowl is modern, clean and still has that new car smell 🙂

Nightlife: 5 – Fantastic – something for everyone!

Socials/Societies: 4

Students Union: 4 – Good venue, cheap prices, cheap gym membership – isn’t that busy on a night though.

Leeds Met is a top quality, modern uni with world-leading experts and impressively experienced semi-retired practitioners taking most of the first year lectures. Leeds Met has an excellent reputation and they expect a lot from you but the work is very interesting and rewarding. I have no regrets about coming here 🙂

Teaching/Lecturers: 3.5 The teaching and lectures are helpful but sometimes I find myself asking if they are relevant. I have realised that most tasks, even if they do sometimes seem useless when completing, are all factors in building a fountain of knowledge for the course. The lectures are sometimes interactive which is good too.

Support available:  5 I have always found that when I have been faced with a problem, the person to help is just an email away. Personal tutors normally respond straight away, which is great considering how many students they probably look after.

Extra Opportunities available : 5 There is always an opportunity to be involved with extra opportunities, you just have to be motivated to participate. There is lots of information on how to become involved on the student portal and I always find it is better to become involved in things like work experience and attending guest lecturers as you benefit from them in the end.

Accommodation: 3 Student halls are a learning curve. They are fantastic for meeting people and having fun, but sometimes could become tedious around cleaning issues in my flat. I now live in a house with the people I met in student halls and I love it.

Facilities (including library): 5 Leeds Met offer modern and up to date facilities, which are great for your studies. The library is also very good; it has lots of computers free to use, and the loaning of books etc is very easy to do.

Nightlife: 5 The night life is brilliant. Leeds offers a range of different nights to suit every different persons taste. From indie nights, hard core raves and even little pubs where you can just go for a quiet few. It has some of the biggest night clubs I have ever seen.

Socials/Societies: 5

Students Union: 4

I really love my course and studying at Leeds Met. I would encourage any young person who is thinking of coming to university to come to Leeds Met, as it is an experience that is life-changing.

  1. I’d just like to second the point Sean makes about the lack of response from tutors. It is atrocious and needs to be addressed ASAP. Not good enough.

  2. Then one or the other of you need to be specific about this – and not just throw out one-sided allegations. I’m listening, as is our course leader.

  3. I was not aware my comments were going to put on this site, so I’d like to explain my responses.

My answers were given when some mishaps were still fresh in my mind. I love Leeds Met and the course I’m on. Understandably, lecturers are people too and as such they occasionally make mistakes.

Nonetheless actions are being taken to improve this – that’s how we learn and develop.

The fact remains PR at Leeds Met has one of the highest employability rates in the country and is one (if not the) best in the UK for PR. I am proud of my course, my uni and my achievements so far.
